AFRICA TRIP!

We've been partnering with Global Hope Network, lending hands to help with their good work throughout Africa.  Now, we have a great opportunity to send people on their next trip to Ethiopia and Kenya!

The trip is July 11-26th.

Would you pray about going?  Think about it... chew on it... ask others if it'd be a good trip for you.

Here's a LINK to more information about the trip.

It's going to be good and helpful and... wonderful.

Chip In for Wubshet & Habiba!

Wubshet & Habiba are Global Hope's "on the ground" helpers in Gambella.  Without their oversight, the Miracle Acre won't run.  Please help support W & H as they work to stay in Kenya to help the people of Gambella!  Any amount helps!

Verses of the Week...

How about THIS?

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:
If one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

That's pretty good, huh?

This coming week at ROOM, I'll be talking about God's Body (based on Paul's phrasing in Colossians 1:24... "for the sake of His (Christ's) Body, which is the Church") and how that really (actually) can work.

If you can, try and see the 2002 Hugh Grant movie, "About a Boy."  It's such a great (and funny) depiction of the futility of living life alone and how (as Jon Bon Jovi said) "no man is an island."

MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH MIRACLE ACRE

What if we could dramatically affect the lives of an entire village of people?
What if we could bring life to a community?
What if, with just a few dollars, we could reverse hunger and starvation, long-term?

That's what we, at ROOM, are doing...

GAMBELLA, KENYA is a poor African village. The people are wonderful, but under-resourced. One of the things they're in desperate need of is... food. Sky-rocketing food prices have made it so that most of the people of Gambella eat one meal... every other day.

It'd be great if they could grow their own food. But to farm, you need water.

And getting water to Gambella farmland is not easy. It's hard. So, crops don't grow. So, there's not much food. So, people don't eat.

WE CAN CHANGE THAT.

We (us folks at ROOM) are giving money to build a MIRACLE ACRE for the people of Gambella.

This is a Miracle Acre:

Miracle Acre

A Miracle Acre is a plot of land where the people can grow crops. It includes a device (above) that pumps water from a nearby well or stream and puts it into a large holding tank. Then, drip-lines carry the water across an acre of land, dripping it onto the soil, so that crops can grow.

So people have food.

So they can eat.

Three square meals a day.

(And, they can even produce "cash crops" which they can sell in the marketplace, to make money.)

At ROOM, we're not asking for your money to make our worship service go... or to build a building... or to pay some people to do some stuff.

From now until Feb 9th, we're joining with other communities of Jesus-lovers to raise $5500.

We're asking that, if you can, you donate so that a Miracle Acre can be set up in Gambella. So crops can grow, so people have food, so people can eat... and their lives can get better.

We can make a big difference in the lives of people a world away. A really, really big difference.
